Your number is in the winning list — congratulations. Here is exactly what to do next, what to carry with you, how much tax will be deducted, and how long you have to make the claim.
Step 1 — Verify the number carefully
Before you go anywhere, check three things against the official list:
- The denomination (Rs. 100 / 200 / 750 / 1,500 / 25,000 Premium / 40,000 Premium)
- The draw number and date
- Every digit of the bond number — read it twice
You can re-verify at any time on our Advance Search page or in the official list you can download as a PDF. The final authority is always the list issued by National Savings.
Step 2 — Fill in the claim form (PB-23)
The claim form is called PB-23. It is available in English and Urdu, free of charge, at any National Savings Centre — and you can also download it from our forms page and fill it in at home to save time.
Fill in your name, CNIC number, address, bank details, the bond denomination, the bond number, and the draw number and date. Write clearly, and do not overwrite — a fresh form is free.
Step 3 — Take these documents with you
| Document | Details |
|---|---|
| The winning bond | The original — photocopies are not accepted |
| Claim form PB-23 | Completed and signed |
| Original CNIC | Plus two photocopies |
| Bank account details | Account title, number and IBAN (a cancelled cheque helps) |
| Photographs | Two passport-size photos for larger prizes |
| Filer proof | NTN or ATL status, if you want the 15% rate |
Step 4 — Submit at the right place
- Small prizes (third prize): most National Savings Centres and designated bank branches can pay these, sometimes over the counter.
- Large prizes (first and second): these are handled by the State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation (SBP BSC) field office in your city, and are paid by cheque or bank transfer.
- Premium bonds: because they are registered, prize money is credited directly to the bank account recorded against your CNIC.
Step 5 — Tax deduction
Withholding tax is deducted at source before you are paid:
| Status | Tax rate | Example on Rs. 1,500,000 |
|---|---|---|
| Filer (on the Active Taxpayer List) | 15% | You receive Rs. 1,275,000 |
| Non-filer | 35% | You receive Rs. 975,000 |
The difference is large, so if you are close to becoming a filer it is worth doing before you claim. Use our tax calculator to see the exact figure for your prize.
How long do you have?
A prize bond prize can be claimed for six years from the date of the draw. After that the claim lapses. This is why it is worth checking old draws as well as the newest one — and why My Wallet automatically back-checks several years of history for every number you save.
How long does payment take?
Small prizes are often paid the same day. Larger prizes usually take a few weeks while the bond is verified, and are paid by cheque or credited to your bank account. Keep your submission receipt until the money arrives.
Watch out for fraud
- No one from National Savings will ever phone you to ask for a "processing fee" or a bank OTP.
- Never hand your original bond to a middleman who offers to "get the money faster".
- Claim only at a National Savings Centre, an SBP BSC office or a designated bank branch.
- Do not post photographs of your winning bond on social media — the number is enough for a bearer bond to be misused.
